Valentine's Day

It's almost here! That day in mid-February when everybody's grouchy about winter, when you can get a little pick-me-up doing something for someone you love—be it your bestie, your sweetie, or someone special in your family.

When you're thinking about what to do for that special someone, remember how important local flowers are! Around 500 million tons of flowers will travel from Colombia to the United States this year for Valentine's Day, and most of them have already been harvested by now, flown to wholesalers before making their way to retailers and florists (not to mention doused in pesticides in order to be able to cross borders).

Y'all, we have the most gorgeous flowers being grown here in North Carolina! (*Ahem* and Pine State Flowers is the first flower shop in the state to exclusively use local flowers). Even though the season is early, I'll have tulips, lilies, narcissus, daffodils, paperwhites, Dutch iris, and more.

In addition to local flowers, the shop is partnering with two amazing local, independent businesses in Durham: Lo & Behold Natural Body Care, and East Durham Pie Company.
